Description
The artist is one of the flag bearers of Warli art that we currently have. This painting is one of his signatures works. He takes the traditional motif of the spiral-shaped ant colony as the central image here on Cow dung paste. Local legend says that the ants were directed by Shiva to store seeds within their lair to be used for humanity’s regeneration after the apocalypse. The ‘Bhon’ is surrounded by other familiar Warli motifs. This painting shows the natural world that the Warli community lives in, perfectly in tune with each other during the heavy downpour where the peacock has spread his wings and enjoying the dance.
