Hill Korwa People Art: Voices of the Unwritten

The Korwa people speak a dialect that has no written form. To conclude their writings show that their encounter with written language in neighbouring towns must have caused them forcefully to take up such forms of art. The Korwa people are a Munda, a Scheduled Tribe ethnic group of India. They live mainly on the border between Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.
