Naga 02/19-20

This dramatic shawl is from the Angami tribe, one of the largest tribes in Nagaland. It was woven by an anonymous woman weaver. The shawl has a body of rich red with stripes in black. Towards the center, the black stripes are thicker and are embellished with a complex design woven in red. Woven on the back-strap loom, this shawl is made in strips and sewn up.
