NEMINATH JI: Arun Kumar Sharma’s vivid Pichwai works represent religious and secular themes in intricately created tapestries. This work depicts Neminath, the twenty second tirthankara in Jainism who is an epithet of the sun-chariot. He was born as a prince and attained moksha on Girnar Hills after renouncing the world. In the painting here, one can notice a clearly meditational and yogic feel. This is especially due to the Sanskrit chants that have been incorporated within the composition. This work is evidence of the unique way in which artists can adopt within an age-old form.
